There are over 25 calling features available and included with all residential plans at no additional cost. Including:

Area Code Selection

With Area Code Selection, your phone number is no longer rooted to the area in which you live. Area codes are assigned during the initial sign up process. Changes can be made to the area code by contacting the Butterfly Customer Contact Centre.

Call Back On Busy (*66)

Nothing can be more frustrating that making a call and repeatedly getting a busy signal. Use Call Back On Busy to ease the frustration. After receiving a busy signal hang up, then pick up the receiver immediately, dial *66 and hang up again. You will be notified by a special ring when the intended line becomes free. Answer and you will hear ringing as you are connected to the number you are trying to call. back to top


Call Backup

Should there be an interruption in your phone service (power failure, internet failure, etc), Backup Calling will systematically forward all incoming calls to a registered number associated with your account (for example a cell phone number). So even if your internet service goes down, you will never miss a call! back to top


Call Block

Tired of Telemarketers? After you have received an unwanted call, simply take note of the number and log in to your online Butterfly account, select Call Block from the features menu, add the number and never be disturbed by that caller again. back to top


Cancel Call Block

If you realized that you have blocked a number in error, log in to your online Butterfly account, select Call Block from the features menu, then select the number you wish to unblock and click on the unblock number button. It is that simple. back to top


Call Hold

To place a caller on hold, simply press the flash button. When this is accomplished, your caller will be placed on hold with an accompaniment of soft music. To reconnect to the caller simply press the flash button again back to top


Call Find Me

This feature allows callers to 'find you' where ever you may be. With this feature callers will be routed to different phone numbers until you pick up or they reach your voicemail. You can tailor it by entering the numbers to be dialed, the number of rings in between each number and when to send the call to voicemail. To activate this feature, just log in to your online Butterfly account and select Call Find Me from the features menu. Please note that this feature cannot be used at the same time with the "Ring Me Everywhere" or the "Call Privacy" features. back to top


Call Forwarding (*72)

In the event that you will be away from your phone for an extended period of time and would like to receive your calls on a different phone or pager, simply pick up the receiver, dial *72, the number including area code where you can be reached, and hang up. This feature can also be activated online. Simply sign in to your online Butterfly account and select Call Forwarding from the Features menu. back to top


Cancel Call Forwarding (*73)

When you no longer need your calls forwarded, simply pick up the receiver, dial *73 then hang up. Or log in to your online Butterfly account, select Call Forwarding from the features menu and click on the Cancel Call Forwarding button. back to top


Call Privacy

Always know who is calling. You can choose to reject all anonymous or unknown calls by dialing *50. Callers will be forced to say their name or entire in the number they are calling from in order to reach you. You can cancel this feature by dialing *51. back to top


Call Return (*69)

If you have missed a call and would like to see who called or contact that specific caller, you can pick up the receiver and dial *69. Then just follow the prompts to connect to the caller. back to top


Call Transfer / Three-Way Calling

This feature enables you to pass on a caller to another party. It can also be used for call conferencing (Three-Way Calling). While on the line with the first caller, press the flash button to put the first party on hold. When you hear a dial tone, dial the number of the second party. Once connected to the second party, press the flash button and the first party is now in conversation/conference. To completely transfer the first party to the second party, simply hang up your receiver. back to top


Call Screening

With this sophisticated calling feature, you can route certain calls according to your needs. For example, if you are waiting for an important call and you are going to be in and out you can send that particular call to your cellular phone. You can also send a specific caller to your voicemail or to another line. To use this feature log in to your online Butterfly account, select Call Screening from the features menu and follow the simple instructions.back to top


Call Waiting

You will hear a subtle beeping indicating that another caller is attempting to reach you while you are already on a call. Simply press the flash button to connect with the new caller. This also places your first call on hold. To return to the first caller press the flash button again. back to top


Caller ID

Know who called and when. This feature is automatically enabled and provides caller identification for incoming calls. back to top


Distinctive Ringing

Would you like to be able to tell when certain people are calling without having to look at the phone? Log in to your online Butterfly Account and set up the Distinctive Ringing feature. You can add the phone numbers of the callers you would like to differentiate. Now you will seldom run to the phone and find out that the call is not for you. back to top


Do Not Disturb (*78)

When you have important events or when you just need some quiet time, pick up the receiver, dial *78 and then hang up. This will automatically forward all incoming calls to your voicemail. back to top


Cancel Do Not Disturb (*79)

When you wish to receive calls again, you can pick up the receiver, dial *79 and hang up. This will cancel Do Not Disturb. back to top


Enhanced Voicemail (*98)

This feature is automatically enabled during the initial sign up process. To access the voicemail feature dial *98 and follow the prompts. Please note that the initial voicemail password is your Butterfly 10 digit telephone number. back to top


Line ID

If you have multiple numbers / no borders numbers attached to your main Butterfly number the Line ID feature will provide distinctive ringing for individual line identification purposes. With this feature you can have up to five different rings for up to five different numbers. This unique ring will enable you to identify which one of your phone numbers is being called. To set up this feature please log in to your online Butterfly account. back to top


Free Butterfly to Butterfly Calling

Free in-network callng to any Butterfly subscriber. This feature is automatically enabled and can be used at any time.back to top


Message Waiting Indicator

If your telephone has a message waiting indicator, it will turn on when you have a new voice message. If you do not have a telephone with a message waiting indicator, you will hear an "on-off" dialtone for a few seconds when you pick up your phone. This feature is automatically enabled. back to top


Ring Me Everywhere

If you wish to have multiple phones, mobiles or pagers called simultaneously whenever a call comes through to your Butterfly number, this feature needs to be activated. To set up this feature please sign in to the Butterfly Customer Portal online and follow the simple instructions. Please note that this feature cannot be used simultaneously with the 'Call Find Me" or the "Call Privacy" features back to top


Speed Dial (*74)

Presently this feature is available to any of our customers who are using our adapter with our phone service. To use this feature, pick up the receiver and dial *74 and then enter the phone number you wish to save. Next you would push pound / number sign (#) followed by the number on the key pad that you wish to save it to, (e.g. #3). You can have up to 8 phone numbers stored on speed dial using the numbers on your key pad ranging from 2 to 9. Please note that you cannot use 1 or 0 for speed dial entries. back to top

Visual Call Waiting

This feature is automatically enabled and allows you to see the name and phone number of the person who is calling in on your call waiting. This allows you to decide whether or not you wish to answer your call waiting. back to top


Voicemail to Email

With this feature, you will receive an e-mail notification every time you receive a new voicemail. You can see from who, when, where and how long the message is. The message can also be played right from your e-mail. To set up this feature, please provide your e-mail address to the Butterfly Customer Service Center or log in to your online Butterfly account and add your email address. back to top


Wake Up Calls (123)

If you need a wake up call just dial 123 and follow the prompts. Our system will call your phone at the time you choose and ask you to answer a simple math question. This is just to make sure that you are "up and at 'em", and ready to start your day. back to top


Technical Support Queue (611)

Clients may dial 611 from their Butterfly phone to be automatically connected with customer service and technical support personnel. back to top
